How Often Should You Visit the Dentist?

CWD EditorOral Health

We all know it’s important to see the dentist in order to maintain good oral health, but how often should we schedule our cleanings? Although it may seem like there’s one answer that applies to everyone, there is not. There are many factors that come in to play when evaluating how often you should visit the dentist.

Cottonwood Dental recommends seeing your dentist at a minimum of twice a year. However, there are many things to consider when determining your oral health. Individuals who smoke, have diabetes, have gum disease, or are prone to cavities and plaque build-up may need to see the dentist more frequently. If you have early signs of periodontal disease, Cottonwood Dental may recommend that you schedule a cleaning every three months.

Keeping your teeth and gums strong is extremely important. Establishing a home routine is important, which should always include brushing and flossing twice a day. If you maintain a healthy regimen your dentist may choose to prolong your time in between appointments.  When it’s time for your next cleaning or checkup, call Cottonwood Dental to get scheduled!
